Automatic Belt Verifications

The federation has the option to generate automatic verifications for members' belts. Either when a member competes with the belt in an entry which requires the belt for participation, or when a member academy assigns a verification on the member and belt (which comes with a a few different optional criteria).

Federation Verification settings

All settings for both Verification Requests and Automatic Verifications are belt specific. This means that each belt has their own settings, allowing you to for example allow Verification Requests for black and brown belts, but not for the rest of the belts. If you wish to have the same settings for multiple belts, you can easily copy a belt setting to another belt once the first one has been created. This is done by from the federation "Verification" settings clicking the far right copy button on the belt in question, and then selecting the belt you wish to copy the settings to in the dialog showing up. Repeat this process as needed.

Enabling automatic verifications

The steps below starts from where the Verification Requests steps left of. If you haven't already created verification settings, please see Verification Requests for more details and then come back here!

To start editing your belt settings, click the edit button on the belt in question.

Automatic Delegated Verifications

The top right check box of the "Automatic / Delegated Verification" section is like a master switch, and if checked will check both of the below check boxes. This can be used for quicker changing of settings once you've gotten used to the controls, but for now you can ignore it.

To enable automatic verifications in the form of Delegated Verifications, check the check box for "When skill level is verified by academy". What this essentially means is that an academy admin or coach can assign a verification to a member of yours on this particular belt, and when they do a verification from your federation is automatically assigned to the member and belt as well. In practice this basically means that you delegate the authority to assign verifications to your members on this belt onto academies on Smoothcomp.

Now, to just let any academy assign verifications in your name might sound a bit too laid back. If that's the case, there are multiple options you can enable to tighten the grip.

There are two options, where the first also has an even more strict further option. This first one is that can you decide that the delegated verification from you should only be assigned if the coach assigning their verification has a specified belt or higher. For example, you only delegate this authority to black belts. If you want to go a step further, you can check the sub option here to decide that the coaches also need to have this specified belt or higher verified by your federation in order for the delegated verification to go through. This in practice ensures that you more or less manually can pick out the coaches who are allowed to make verifications in your name, since they have to be a member of your federation, have a certain belt and also have that belt verified by you.

The second option is to require the academy of the coach who assigns their verification to be an approved academy member of your federation in order for the delegated verification to go through. This massively narrows down the coaches allowed to make verifications in your name. Important to note is that if this is enabled, verifications made from an academy which then leaves your federation will be removed. An academy joining your federation will also retroactively trigger delegated verifications if they have matching existing verifications.

By using a combination of these options you make sure that only the right users can do the verification work for you, while still not having to do them all manually yourself.

Automatic Verifications from competition

Another Automatic Verification can be done when the member competes with the belt in question in an entry which in its rules require all participants to have this belt. This is the same logic as normally locks a belt and will display a "Competed at Smoothcomp" card in their belt settings. By checking the check box next to "When athlete competes with this skill level" you enable this, essentially letting the Organizers on Smoothcomp connected to your federation do the work.
