Toplist tiebreaker in ranks (federation)

This feature is for all federation ranking lists, and it allows a ranking list to use other federation ranking lists as tiebreakers. For example a certain ranking list, let's call it Top All Men, where athletes are tied can use another ranking list as a tiebreaker. That could be a smaller or more narrow list, we could call that Top Pros Men. For the tied athletes in the Top All Men, the tiebreaker will be each athlete's placement in the Top Pros Men list.

Use cases

Using other ranking lists

The main purpose/use case for this feature is to use other ranking lists as tiebreakers for other ranking lists, as described above.

Here's how that could be set up:

The ranking list could basically be set up however you like except for the tiebreakers. In the rankinglist you can go to to tiebreakers and choose "Toplist" and then the ranking list of choice. This is what that could look like:

How this works in practice is that if two players in Top All Men have the same amount of points, the one with the most amount of points in Top Pros Men will get the higher placement in Top All Men. Local tiebreakers for the secondary ranking list, in this example Top Pros Men, will not cascade into the main ranking list. This means that if our two equal players in Top All Men would also have the same amount of points in Top Pros Men, the tiebreaker will not be able to separate them, even if a tiebreaker is in place in Top Pros Men splitting them apart through the amount of wins or whatever.

Using ranking from events

A very prominent possible use case for this is to make athletes' placements in events the tiebreaker for the federation ranking lists. To make this possible, we will have a minimum of two federation ranking lists. The first one will be the main one where we want to use the tiebreakers. The secondary one will be a ranking list only for a specific event. We can then use the secondary list as a tiebreaker in the main one. Here's what a setup like that could look like, but here with two events as tiebreakers:

First of all we have two events which we would like to use as tiebreakers in our ranking list. These events happens to be called "Great showdown 1" and "Great showdown 2" in our example.

The federation ranking we list we want to create is going to be called Top All Men in this example. Both events have an entry each called Men, which we will be basing our rankings on.

The event ranking lists

Here's the setup for the two ranking lists for the events. The setup below is for Great showdown 1, but the two are setup exactly the same, except for the event name of course.

Note: If you only want these new ranking lists for the events to act as tiebreakers and not be official ranking lists, you can set the Visibility toggle off, making it only an internal ranking list (like in the setup below.

So we have one of these for Great showdown 1 and one for Great showdown 2. Important things to note here is that entry names might differ between events, so make sure each event ranking list has the correct entry. You can read more about ranking in general here.

The main ranking list

Here's the setup for the Top All Men ranking list with our two events as tiebreakers. Note that they are placed in order - the first one will be used first, and if that's not enough then the second will be used.
