How to create a Stripe account

When you arrange a tournament on Smoothcomp we recommend to have an online payment solution. It saves you many working hours, instead of manually checking payments and refunds, Stripe takes care of that and you can do better things with your time.


Stripe.com is a very flexible platform and supports automatic refunds among other cool features. You can log in to your account from Stripe.com and download their smartphone app to have full control over where your money are. 


In order to use Stripe with Smoothcomp we need the API keys that you get from Stripe when you create the account so that we can connect your account with Smoothcomp.


  • Once created, search for API keys and go to that section


  • Copy the live publishable key and the secret key


  • Paste them in your organizer manager on Smoothcomp under the Stripe section and save at the bottom of the page.


  • Your Stripe account is now connected with Smoothcomp and payments made to your organizer will end up in your Stripe account.

  • Automatic and manual refunds can be done from within Smoothcomp but for a more detailed view and to solve disputes etc, please log in to your Stripe account.

We have updated our integration with Stripe and your Stripe account now supports several payment solutions via Stripe. This opens up several new markets and gives you as an organizer many flexible options to offer your customers.


If you want to activate more payment options you should follow these steps.


  1. Log in to your Stripe account
  2. Go to your personal settings and click on the payments section


Choose the payment methods tab and click the default "your configuration" option.


On this page you will see what options Stripe can provide and if you want you can enable the ones you want to offer your customers when they pay.



For some of the options like Amazon Pay, Apple and Google Pay you need to add smoothcomp.com or the subdomain you have on Smoothcomp as a trusted domain.

  • Choose the option you want to enable and click "register domains" in the bubble that appears when you hover over the option.


  • Go to payment method domains and click add a new domain.

  • Add smoothcomp.com as a trusted domain
  • If you use our federation platform then also add the subdomain (example.smoothcomp.com)
