Livestreaming: Custom RTMP
If you don't want to use the built in connection to YouTube it's possible to manually add RTMP source manually.
What is RTMP?
RTMP is the standard (protocol) used that transfers the video and audio from your streaming device (tablet, phone, computer) to the streaming platform.
Compatible platforms
Most streaming platforms are compatible with RTMP, which is the most common standard for transferring live video and audio. Examples include:
- Smoothcomp TV (Recommended for Pay Per View events. Contact us for more info!)
- BallerTV
- Dacast
- FITE
- FloSports (FloGrappling, FloWrestling etc)
- Rokfin
- Vimeo
- YouTube
- ... and hundreds of more services
Setup at your platform of your choice
- Create the stream
- Find the RTMP URL and the RTMP KEY for the stream
Setup on Smoothcomp
- As the event organizer, go to event Settings → Livestream
- Select the mats you want to create streams for, and lastly select Other (custom RTMP)
- When the stream(s) are created fill in the missing fields marked in red:
- RTMP URL (most likely found under stream settings on your platform)
- RTMP KEY (most likely found under stream settings on your platform)
- Watch link (the url for where to watch the video once it's live. This is where the viewers will get when they click the video on Smoothcomp) - Save and you are done!
