Livestreaming: YouTube
You can link your Smoothcomp account with YouTube. This will allow you to create and manage streams directly from Smoothcomp.
YouTube is free of charge.
Prerequisites
- A YouTube account. If you don't have one, sign up at YouTube.com
- Access to streaming. By default a new YouTube account does not have access to streaming. This can easily be requested and takes 24 hours.
How to activate streaming:
1. Click the camera icon at the very top right of YouTube next to the notification bell.
2. Select Go Live
3. Click the Request button. If you don't see this message you most likely have already activated streaming.

Linking your account
- As an organizer for the event, go to event Settings → Livestreams
- Click Link YouTube account. (If not present, click "Add Stream", pictured top right below)
- Select YouTube
- Choose the YouTube channel you wish to connect and stream to. In this example we have used Smoothcomps channel but you will connect your own channel.
- Allow [yourchannel] to establish a connection with your YouTube channel. Once you press allow you accept our terms of accessing your channel in order to help you stream using our solution.
- We will make a check with YouTube to make sure your channel is ready for live streaming. If the connection is OK we will let you know. If your YouTube account is not activated for YouTube please see the section at Prerequisites at the beginning (top) of this article.
